Annual Report - 2017
We are Public Health!
A Message from the Medical Officer of Health
What does the Health Unit do? This is a question we often hear. The simple answer is that public health staff provide programs and services that help people stay healthy. We provide information to help residents in our communities prevent illnesses and injury, we offer services that help protect people from diseases, and we encourage people to make choices that help them live healthier lives.
Our work often goes unnoticed, but if you have eaten at a restaurant, been vaccinated against disease, gone into the water at a public beach or had a visit from a nurse after having a baby, you have benefited from public health programs.
In this 2017 Annual Report, we show how the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is your health partner for life. Watch and learn about our promotion, protection and prevention efforts in Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes, and discover the passion our staff have for their work in helping people stay healthy!!
