What is the root cause of food insecurity? Poverty. Consider:

• In Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes, 13.5% of households are food insecure, which is higher than the Ontario average of 11.9%. 1, 2

How do we fix it?

• Support income solutions such as the Basic Income Guarantee, increases to minimum wage, and better employment standards.
