4 Counties Harm Reduction Coalition (Needle Exchange/Safer Inhalation Program)
Mission Statement:
The 4 Counties Harm Reduction Coalition (4CHRC) promotes the health, safety and dignity of individuals and communities affected by the continuum of drug and/or alcohol use in Haliburton, Peterborough and Northumberland Counties and in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The coalition is comprised of community service providers who use a harm reduction approach to reduce the spread of blood borne infections (Hepatitis B and C and HIV/AIDS) in the Four County area. The coalition does this by:
-
Giving out new needles and other equipment (“works”) and collecting used ones for safe disposal
-
Acknowledging all the risks in a person’s life and providing support to understand, address and reduce those risks
