Falling Asleep at the Breast

Newborns can fall asleep at the breast easily when they are full. To help ensure they continue feeding and receive the amount they need, mothers can use skin-to-skin, try stroking baby's cheek, removing their clothes, changing their diaper or gently massaging their back, hands or feet. Another thing mothers can try is to gently squeeze their breast (thumb on top and fingers below without getting in the way of baby's position). This will increase milk flow and baby may start sucking again.
