FINAL THREE

- Protect Yourself Against Influenza by Attending Final Flu Vaccination Clinics in Northumberland -

(NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY) – And then there were three.

It will soon be your last shot at getting a flu shot at community clinics organized by the local Health Unit.Over the next week, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is holding its final three flu vaccination clinics of the season as follows:

In Brighton this Saturday (November 16) from 10 am to 2:30 pm at Evangel Pentecostal Church (30 Butler Street East).

In Cobourg next Wednesday (November 20) from 2-4:30 pm at Legion Village (111 Hibernia Street).

In Campbellford next Saturday (November 23) from 10 am to 2:30 pm at Campbellford Baptist Church (166 Grand Road).

Flu shots are free to any Ontario resident six months of age and older. No appointment is needed for these clinics, but people are asked to bring their health cards.

“I would encourage everyone who has not yet received a flu shot to come out to a clinic to get vaccinated,” says Linda McCarey, Director of Communicable Disease Control with the HKPR District Health Unit. “Flu vaccine can help protect you, your family, and other people around you from becoming sick with influenza, which can disrupt your holiday plans and put a damper on the upcoming festive season.”

Local residents who are unable to attend the Health Unit’s final flu vaccination clinics are encouraged to seek other options for being protected. They can check with their health care provider to see if they are offering flu shots.

This year, there is also the added option of getting vaccinated by a pharmacist. A total of 18 pharmacies in Northumberland County have been approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to offer flu shots to anyone over the age of five years. A complete list of approved pharmacies is available at HERE
