- Area Workplaces Reminded That Registration Deadline for April 9 Mental Health Workshop is Fast Approaching -

(COBOURG) – Mary Ann Baynton wants local organizations to make workplace mental health part of their business, especially when it can pay off for them and their employees.

Baynton is a leading expert and author on workplace mental health in Canada. She regularly works with employers, organizations, unions and associations to improve, address and resolve mental health issues at work. Baynton says she is excited to be coming to Cobourg for an April 9 workshop to share information and resources with local organizations.

“There is a very good business case for workplace mental health,” says Baynton. “When you support employees with mental health issues, you can often keep those employees productive and at work, and most importantly… healthy! That’s good for the individual and it is good for the entire organization!”

Event organizer Lisa van der Vinne, a Health Promoter with the Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit, says the workshop is a worthwhile investment for local workplaces. “Mental health is a difficult topic to tackle in the workplace, and that’s where Mary Ann Baynton can share practical strategies for success,” van der Vinne notes. “Doing nothing is not the answer if an employee experiences a mental illness. It just costs everyone more in the long run.”
