- Planned IT Outage to Affect Health Unit Services During August Long Weekend -

Area residents who need to contact the local Health Unit this coming long weekend are being advised to take note of a few changes.

Due to a planned maintenance of the IT (Information Technology) system, staff from the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit will be unable to respond to emails from 6 pm on Friday, August 1, to 7 am on Tuesday, August 5.

In addition, the Health Unit’s voicemail system may be affected periodically during this time period.

This means that local residents may not be able to contact the Health Unit through the organization’s main business phone line.

In the event of an emergency, people are asked to call the after-hours line at 1-888-255-7839, and speak to the Health Unit staff person who is on call. Emergencies would include: reportable disease reports, cold chain breaks, outbreak notifications, chemical spills, animal bites, food or water-borne outbreaks, contamination of public drinking water and natural disasters.

The HKPR District Health Unit apologizes for this disruption and appreciates people’s patience during the IT outage.
