- Cobourg Public Library Wins Catered Lunch in Healthy Workplace Month Contest -

Lunch is served for staff members at the Cobourg Public Library.

Library staff have won a $100 gift certificate towards a healthy catered lunch after their workplace was selected as the winning entry in the We All Win with Workplace Health Contest held in October to mark Healthy Workplace Month.

Cobourg Public Library employee Rhonda Perry entered her workplace in the contest, and is thrilled at winning.

Nearly four dozen workplaces in Northumberland County, Haliburton County and the City of Kawartha Lakes entered the contest for a chance to win a healthy catered lunch for their employees. The contest was sponsored by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

“We’re pleased by the response to the contest, and congratulate the Cobourg Public Library on winning lunch for its staff,” says Lisa van der Vinne, a Health Promoter with the HKPR District Health Unit. “Everyone benefits from workplace health… employees, their families, and the entire community. In that way, the contest was successful in spurring interest and awareness about the benefits of workplace health.”

To enter the contest, local workplaces were asked to sign up for the Health Unit’s monthly workplace health e-newsletter, or share information and photos of a healthy activity they had planned at their workplace during Healthy Workplace Month in October.

Van der Vinne encourages all businesses and organizations to consider the benefits of workplace health. To that end, the Health Unit provides free and confidential consultation and support services to help local employers get on the path to success. To find out more about these services, call the Health Unit at 1-866-888-4577 ext. 1256, email or visit the webpage.
