- Helping Toddlers Become Less Picky Eaters is Focus of Free Nutrition Workshop in Early April -

(COBOURG) – A free nutrition workshop is being geared to parents and caregivers, who have an appetite to learn about ways to deal with picky young eaters.

Fearless Feeding is the name of a free Toddler Nutrition Workshop that takes place on Wednesday, April 6, from 7-8 pm, in the Conference Room at Northumberland Mall (1111 Elgin St. W.) in Cobourg. The event, which is geared to parents and caregivers, will be led by Registered Dietitian Laura Abbasi. No registration is required.

The event is presented by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit. A similar toddler nutrition workshop held last fall proved quite popular, so organizers decided to run the event again in Cobourg this spring.

“Young children often resist or refuse to eat the food placed in front of them,” says Abbasi, of the HKPR District Health Unit. “This confrontation with picky young eaters can be very difficult and trying for parents.”

The Fearless Feeding workshop will cover specific nutrition challenges posed by toddlers and young children. Coping tips and resources will also be provided to parents for overcoming picky eating and encouraging healthy eating habits for life.

“The goal is to make mealtime a more relaxed and positive experience for the whole family,” Abbasi adds.
