- CUPE Local 1602 Reaches Tentative Agreement with Health Unit -

CUPE 1602, representing approximately 100 public health employees throughout the region, has reached a tentative agreement with Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

No details will be made public until after workers vote on the tentative settlement on July 4 and 5, 2016.

CUPE and HKPR representatives reported that they were pleased at the tenor of negotiations, which they described as respectful and cooperative, and they believe that the tone helped set the stage for a deal that is fair and reasonable for both parties.

“We are happy to put forward this agreement for ratification by CUPE members. We see the deal as a positive step along the path to strengthening and improving public health services in Haliburton County, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County,” said CUPE representative Jennifer Mizerovsky.

“CUPE and HKPR made great strides in negotiating this agreement in a collaborative, solutions focussed, manner. We are pleased to recommend this agreement for ratification,” Mary Catherine Masciangelo, Director, Corporate Services for the HKPR District Health Unit said.
