Part 8 Program

The purpose of the 'Part 8 Program' is to help protect the public's health and the local environment through the proper installation of on-site sewage systems and adherence to the Building Code Act and the Ontario Building Code.
It is also the obligation of the Appointed Part 8 Inspector, on behalf of the Health Unit's Environmental Health Department, to take into account other applicable law, e.g. conservation authorities, municipal and county by-laws.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Reviewing applications for installing new sewage disposal systems.

Reviewing applications for replacing existing sewage disposal systems.

Reviewing applications for building additions/renovations that may decrease the performance level of an existing sewage disposal system.

Reviewing applications for Minor Variance/Subdivisions/Zoning/Severances.

Site assessment/soil assessment of the above.
