FREE WAYS TO BE ACTIVE

- Free Skating and Swim Times Offered Over the Holidays In Northumberland County -

(NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY) - Local residents who want to take the plunge in the pool or who prefer lacing up their blades have plenty of opportunity to do both this holiday season.

Health for Life’s Active Living Northumberland and Northumberland County’s Youth Action Alliance are teaming up to offer free skating in Brighton, Cobourg, Port Hope, Campbellford, Hastings and Warkworth. Health for Life is also providing free swim times in Port Hope. The events run as follows:

  • Free Skating on Wednesday, December 27, from 1:30 pm to 3 pm at the Jack Burger Arena in Port Hope (sponsored by Health for Life).
  • Free Skating on Thursday, December 28, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Hastings Arena (sponsored by Health for Life).
  • Free Skating on Thursday, December 28, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Campbellford/Seymour Arena (sponsored by Health for Life).
  • Free Skating on Thursday, December 28, from 1 pm to 2 pm at the Warkworth Arena (sponsored by the Youth Action Alliance).
  • Free Swimming on Thursday, December 28, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope (sponsored by Health for Life).
  • Free Skating on Friday, December 29, from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Jack Heenan Arena in Cobourg (sponsored by Youth Action Alliance).
  • Free Swimming on Friday, December 29, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Jack Burger Sports Complex in Port Hope (sponsored by Health for Life).
  • Free Skating on Friday, December 29, from 7 pm to 8:20 pm at the King Edward Park Arena in Brighton (sponsored by Health for Life).

Health For Life’s Active Living Northumberland is a local coalition that promotes the importance of physical activity for local residents. The local Youth Action Alliance (YAA) is called Incite: The Revolution Against Big Tobacco, and is made up of students who organize and promote anti-tobacco activities across Northumberland County. The YAA initiative is funded by the provincial Smoke-Free Ontario initiative.
