Being a parent or guardian is very rewarding, but unfortunately, doesn’t come with an instruction manual. That’s where we can help.

The Haliburton Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit provides many programs and services to support families. No matter the age or stage of your child’s development, our Healthy Families team is here to support you. Read on to learn more information.

Specific Programs and Services

  • Healthy Families Information and Support Line – Give us a call to speak to a Public Health Nurse and receive support and answers from preconception to parenthood.
  • Healthy Families Nutrition and Feeding Support Clinic offers one-on-one support to help parents feed their baby, child or themselves and make informed nutritional decisions that are best for their family. A Registered Nurse or Registered Dietitian will provide clients with in-person, virtual or phone support.
  • Preparing For Life With Baby e-Class: Sign up for this web-based class that provides accurate and reliable information/resources on pregnancy, labour and birth, caring for a newborn and breastfeeding.
  • Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program (HBHC) – This free, confidential and voluntary program is for eligible pregnant individuals, new parents, and families with infants, toddler and pre-schoolers. HBHC provides advice and support immediately after a baby’s birth and at different stages afterwards to ensure children get the best start to life.
