May 9, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County.
April 24, 2024 – In response to evolving educational needs and the demand for convenient access, the HKPR District Health Unit will now offer the Ministry of Health’s Food Handler Training Certification exclusively online.
Reporting to the Department Manager, the School Health Nurse (SHN) will support the fulfilment of board of health requirements to improve the health of school-aged children and youth as per the School Health Program Standard and related guidelines and protocols under the Ontario Public Health Standards: Requirements for Programs, Services and Accountability (OPHS) including but not limited to the school-based immunization program (SBIP).

The Public Health Nurse may also be accountable to implement the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Program in accordance with the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children Protocol 2018 and other duties as assigned by Health Promotion Management.

April 22, 2024 –The HKPR District Health Unit would like to inform the community that second notices are being issued to parents/guardians to remind them to update their child's immunization records with the Health Unit to avoid suspension in May.
