HKPR District Health Unit Appoints New Director of Corporate Services

Matthew Vrooman brings several years of healthcare experience.

PORT HOPE, ON (May 25, 2023) – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Vrooman to the role of Director of Corporate Services, and the newest member of its Senior Leadership Team. Vrooman began on May 15.

Vrooman has several years of senior leadership experience in healthcare bringing a wealth of healthcare expertise and a commitment to promoting a thriving environment for all. Throughout his career, he has been a champion of interprofessional team function and has presented on various people-related topics at local, national, and international forums. Vrooman’s dedication to fostering collaboration and finding innovative solutions has made him a respected leader in the healthcare community.

Prior to joining the HKPR District Health Unit, Vrooman served in notable positions, including Director and acting Vice-President of Human Resources and Organizational Development at the Central East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) and Central LHIN (now Ontario Health East). His vast experience within healthcare has provided him with a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities.

“I believe that providing support and resources for our public health workers is critical to delivering on our essential mandate of promoting and protecting the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Matthew Vrooman, Director of Corporate Services with the HKPR District Health Unit. “I am committed to ensuring that our teams have the tools they need to deliver effective public health services, and I will work tirelessly to support our staff in achieving our collective goals.”

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Guelph and a Master of Education Studies from the University of Queensland in Australia. In addition, he has a diploma in Human Resources.
