    June 25, 2024 –The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is pleased to announce the availability of Sexual Health Clinic appointments in the County of Haliburton, held on the second Wednesday of every month from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

    June 13, 2024 – As the summer season approaches, the HKPR District Health Unit will be launching its Beach Water Monitoring program, providing regular E. coli test results across 56 monitored public beaches within the County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County.

    Warning: Toxic Drug Supply in Northumberland County

    June 12, 2024 - The HKPR District Health Unit is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County. There is also a trending increase of drug poisonings in the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.

  • Increase in Pertussis Cases in the Community

    June 10, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit has been notified of increased pertussis (whooping cough) activity within the school community. Parents and caregivers should be vigilant, as it is possible that children may have been exposed to this highly contagious bacterial respiratory infection.

    Respiratory Infection Dashboard Updates Pause Until September

    June 3, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit would like to inform the community that regular updates to the Respiratory Infection Dashboard, which reports local cases, hospitalizations, outbreaks, and other indicators of influenza and COVID-19, will now take a pause until the fall.

    May 21, 2024 – The HKPR District Health Unit has released its 2023 Nutritious Food Basket Report titled ‘Addressing Food Insecurity and Poverty in the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District area'.
