    June 5, 2025 – With active wildfires continuing in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, the HKPR District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health (Health Unit) are closely monitoring local air quality conditions through Environment Canada’s Air Quality Health Index.

  • HKPR District Health Unit Investigating First Measles Case in the City of Kawartha Lakes

    June 5, 2025 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit has received confirmation of a positive measles case within the City of Kawartha Lakes. The resident is an adult, fully vaccinated, with exposure originating from close contact with a previously confirmed measles case from another region.

    May 23, 2025 –The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) and Peterborough Public Health (PPH) is participating in the Rapid Risk Factor Surveillance System (RRFSS) telephone survey led in partnership with the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at York University.

    May 22, 2025 – The Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit (now legally Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Public Health) has confirmed some residents may have been exposed to measles.

    April 28, 2025 – The HKPR District Health Unit, supported by PARN, has launched a community-wide awareness campaign aimed at promoting the safe disposal of harm reduction sharps. These include needles, glass bowl pipes and other items that may become harmful when broken or discarded improperly.
