October 15, 2024 - The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge, District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise media and the community of an upcoming Board of Health meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
October 10, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reminding everyone to stay safe this upcoming respiratory illness season by staying up to date on vaccinations. It is recommended that everyone get their flu, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) shots (if applicable) as soon as they become available.
As a member of the Communicable Disease Prevention & Control department (CDPC) of the Health Protection Division, the CDPC Nurse is accountable to CDPC Management for the implementation of the assigned Requirements of the Infectious and Communicable Diseases Prevention & Control Program Standard, Immunization Standard, and/or School Health Standard of the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) 2018.
September 16, 2024 – This fall the HKPR District Health Unit is teaming up again with participating veterinarians throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, County of Haliburton and Northumberland County to provide Reduced-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinics.

September 5, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is notifying the public that an American Crow found in Dunsford, City of Kawartha Lakes, has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV).
Update to alert issued on August 13th: Substance of concern is suspected to be a mix of highly potent opioids and benzodiazepines that is reddish-brown in colour.
August 13, 2024 – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) is issuing an alert due to a notable increase in suspected opioid drug poisonings in Northumberland County.
