Planning to start a family? Just had a baby? Already a parent? Being a parent or guardian is very rewarding but doesn’t come with an instruction manual. This is where the HKPR District Health Unit can help. Regardless of your child's developmental phase, our dedicated Healthy Families team is available to provide guidance and support for you and your loved ones.

Promoting Health and Wellness for Families

HKPR District Health Unit's Healthy Families programs promote support for families. With a focus on fostering health and resilience, the programs provide a range of services tailored to the needs of families from preconception through parenthood.

If you need a pregnancy test or birth control, you can visit our Sexual Health Clinics, speak with your health care provider, or buy one from a pharmacy.  A pregnancy test is most accurate a few days past after you were expecting your period. The best time to do a test is with your first pee of the day.

Sexual Health Clinics are now available in Haliburton County, Northumberland County and the City of Kawartha Lakes. Appointments are required, as walk-ins are not currently available. Book an appointment online, or to speak to a Sexual Health Nurse, call 1-866-888-4577, ext. 1205.
