PORT HOPE, ON (June 7, 2023) – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to advise residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County and Northumberland County that the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) has now moved to high risk due to smoke from ongoing forest fires.

PORT HOPE, ON (June 6, 2023) – As the summer season approaches, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) will be launching its Beach Water Monitoring program, providing regular E. coli test results across the 53 monitored public beaches within County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County.

PORT HOPE, ON (June 5, 2023) – The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit (HKPR District Health Unit) would like to reassure residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County and Northumberland County that the outdoor air quality health index or ‘haze’ caused by the ongoing forest fires is considered moderate risk.
